What does anyone make of this set.

Appears to be missing some hardware for the toms, no bottom lugs/rim for the floor tom.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

They are concert toms and are not supposed to have bottom rims and lugs you would have to have bearing edges cut and drill them and add lugs to have them complete two of those toms probably were on a double tom stand the other on the rail that is on the bass drum...

Thanks, I know they are concert toms, I was just under the impression the floor tom always had a resonate head.

The add says the yellow is not original and the inside shells look like they were painted black. No badges on the shells (a picture of two round badges) and no mention of the Gretsch tags. This drumset would never really be valuable. I have seen the concert floor tom with Gretsch. That being said...

Tubthumper, why are you interested in this drumset? If you want a cheap concert tom kit (I love the fills of Phil Collins/70's studio sounds, so I would understand), it is what it is. There's issues with this kit, but, it would be a neat beater set. If you are thinking about a cool project to add the bottom lugs/rims to the toms, this would be a nice candidate. The original color both inside and out have been changed, missing badges/tags, ect..you wouldn't be changing anything that is in original/mint condition.

The snare has to worth the price. That looks like a it has both throws intact. Would that not make it worth it? Those are nice sounding snares

That's a good point. The snare (if original) is worth $200.

I was thinking about refinishing these and using as a practice set. They look like they have been wrapped with contact paper and I'm curious to see what's underneath. I'm going to try and see them in person later on today and make the call then. Thanks for your input.

I just noticed the wrinkle in the wrap at the bottom of the floor tom. That is a good sign! Pray the wrap is not using super glue for adhesive! Good luck with those, and let us know how they sound! You can always add the bottoms, if you are not queasy about drum building, or drilling. The parts are readily available.

Considering the round badges go for like hundred bucks by themselves on Feebay, I think its pretty good deal. You can always use the 13,16,20 set up and use the rest ot the drums hardware for completing the project. Just my $0.2. I can imagine that set with a nice cabernet laquer finish! Hmmmmm!!!!
