What is wrong with this wfl snare drum?? Last viewed: 2 hours ago
Looks like a Monday AM after the July 4th weekend vent hole placement scenario to me...... LOL
It's a tad off-centre, but is that really odd? Just asking & learning this stuff. Do you think it's a fake?
Gary it has enough things to make me pass on it, the groument has been buggered with, the interior has white paint, not factory, I've never seen the vent hole like that NEVER! and I wonder if 2 lugs where added??
I see. So it's probably not a late 40's mid to late 50's genuine Ludwig snare drum you think?
I've requested from the seller large file detailed close-up photos of the lugs, t-rods-n-clips, strainer & but end..........just for my own info.
The badge and the lugs are 30's these are the streamline lugs, the drum probably is this date but something's not right about it! hey didn't you get the ludwig book?? rob cook said he could do another book just on wfl drums. man I hope he does!!
Ya - I'm looking at it now - Page 203 has what looks like the same strainer - P83.
Love this book - I'm reading it all the time trying to get up to speed with all you guys - haha.
In one of my emails from Rob he mentioned he's working on a Gretsch book - similar lay-out as the Ludwig book. I'm looking forward to it.
Yeah, I thought you had bought a copy of the ludwig book. yeah this is a good book the ludwig I mean, oh man I hope he does a gretsch book! chet's book is good but not as concise as rob's books are!
Yes - I bought Chet's book a while back and it's a great book. I like the interviews and the history - nice colour photos too.
But, for looking at parts = hardware/drum dating and such, the format in Rob's book is more suited for people like us (Vintage/historian types). It's a little bit like a car manual - lots of detail = great stuff.
