What Deals Have You Gotten????? Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

One of my better deals was this 60s era Supra. It was missing the baseball bat muffler which I later found on Ebay. I got the drum for $75. To be honest, I had no idea what it was, other than a Ludwig snare, which you can't ever go wrong on.

Well guys, I don't usually talk much about the deals that I scrounge up, but here are a few of my faves over the past few years:

3 70's Ludwig Supraphonics as one lot (B/O Pointy Badges, 1 pre-serial, 1 8xx xxx, 1 1 2xx xxx) with torn heads and missing a few minor pieces that I happened to have at the ready back home - $80 (I had all 3 tuned and ready to rock that same night!)

22" early 70's Ludwig 3 ply maple marching bass drum (beautiful gold sparkle) - $20

Several orphan Ludwig drums from the 60's and 70's from $0-20.

I am a home inspector by trade and was in an old man's house and saw in his garage that he had a set of drums and he told me they were his son's from back in the 70's. He was in his late 80's and was a percussionist in an orchestra. He was trying to sell his house so I told him if he ever wanted to sell the drums I would be interested. I looked at a few of them before I left, they were walnut cortex Ludwigs. Not exactly my favorite finish but old Luddies are always good. So a year later I get a call from his son asking if I was still interested, Of course I was and asked how much, he said $500. I went to his house that day, I have a Chevy HHr and it took two loads to transport. So here's what I got, the four piece walnut cortex set, two concert toms(mahogany cortex), complete set of ludwig stands, speedking pedal, 40's field snare, three hardshell rolling stand case, full set of hardshell cases, and the last case I opened was a 70's black beauty snare. I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

70's Ludwig Blue Sparkle 12/13/16/18/22
70's Ludwig Natural Maple 12/13/16/18/22
65 Ludwig Silver Sparkle 13/16/20
70's Ludwig Walnut Cortex 12/13/16/22
Snares; 60's Acrolite/70's Acrolite/70's Black Beauty/

My first-ever vintage purchase approx. 10 yrs ago was a 1968 Blue sparkle

Ludwig set 2-22", 12,13,16 with 4 zildjians, ludwig hi-hat stand and 2

cymbal stands. These all cleaned-up very well. Also have a '65 S-land

Champaigne sparke kit 22-13-20(floor) witha matching champ. 3-ply snare.

My dad purchased these from original owner. Stiil on the prowl for the

Rogers set to finish my collection-all sets from the 60's.

My nearest Music Go Round has had this 6x14 COB Slingerland snare for quite a while. So I figured I have nothing to lose by trying some good old fashioned haggeling. (begging) Cool Dude.

I had a couple old no name snare stand's to trade. When all was said and done. I swindeled it for $85.00.Excited

So....I had to post this one I got today. It needs work, but it's playable now. Just wish someone didn't add the two-tom post on top of a rail mount, but what the heck.
