What Deals Have You Gotten????? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Wow...nothing that ^ good.

Anyway, I got a set 12/13/22 amber Vistalites, Acrolite and a 16" Sonor Force 2001 for $75, at Sam Ash no less. Someone screwed up majorly when they took this in as a kit for trade and the drum manager just wanted to get them out of his sight. The Vistas needed a lot of of TLC and still are players at best case (some spider web cracks, no badges, etc.) but I added them to my red Vistas and on stage they look great. Truth be told, I'd have paid $75 for the Acro, it's stamped Feb 21, 1971 and is in quite nice shape.

Other than that...my bass player gave me a set of Premier APK with a Pearl Export floor tom that someone abandoned at his house. (Looking for claws and t-rods for the bass.) Again, not too exciting, but the price was right. :D

Well I'll jump in and take the public's opinion if this trade was a deal or not...

I traded a pair of A Custom 13" hi hats and got a 1978 Rogers kit (14", 15", 18" toms and 24" kick) in Silver Metallic wrap.... (put some pics up on the thread "newbie to rogers needs some help")

anyone? Bueller? Hmmmm

well now let me see. My Brother gave me my early 60's teardrop sonors blue slate pearl. A 14-13-22 and snare and hi hat stand. They are literally mint now that I have restored them and found a 16" floor tom for them. A 16 ft and 13 tom tom and 20 bd with the wrap alll totalled out sold on ebay yesterday for over $450, I figure they are worth at least $1,000. A friend of mine had these 68 sky blue pearl luddy kit 12-13-16-22 wwith a cheap ass snare. he died and his son sold em to me for $600. They will be mint, my next big project. The most profitable deal I have made is: I bought some peral exports for 150, included a 12-14 toms and 22 bass with a 14 tama snare and a acrolite, a tama hi hat stand with 14" new beats on it and a nice gibrlater cymbal stand.

I sold the 2 toms and bass drum for 345.00 plus shipping on ebay and the acro lite for $100. I made 300 and kept a snare and some nice new beat hi hats and a couple of good stands. I allso bougt a acrolite, a premier chrome snare and a pacific piccalo at a pawn shop for $100, and a very nice niles badge chrome slingerland snare with a ludwig ufo case for $75 I could go on and on I guess. I love this!

Speakin of bad deals! I found a 5 piece pacific drum kit on craigslist in crosbyton texas, 35 mile from the big city of Lubbock, home of buddy holly and texas tech red raiders, not to mention Fisher Auto Trim or fisherautotrim.com lol I saw pics and called the gut and informed him if he wanted to bring em to me I'd take em. He had his wife deliver them to me. She arrived and, indentified herself, and her mission. I directed her to back up to "the blac beauty", my yukon xl lol. She backed up I transfered the drum from the back of her expedition, the the back of the black beauty. Paid her her money and went home for lunch. I got home and took a good look at the drumms and discovered that they weren't pacific drums. Every one of the drums had pacific heads on them. There was also a pawn shop sticker on every drum, with a price of $299.98. These was japanese drums. Someone had bought these drums and learned to play, they then bought them some DW pacific drums. Upon recieving the pacific drums and playing them for a second, the decided to change the heads for some evan's or aquarians or whatever. The decided to sell the drums on craigslist and couldn't give them away, so they put the brand new pacific heads on them and went and pawned them. The got $150 cash for them and laughed all the way out the door. when they went on the floor they were priced at $299.99. the guy bought em for his church and moved away and didnt play anymore. any way he sold em to me for 200. I called him and explained everything I just explianed to you. He replied " Let me call my wife, she's at walmart buying groceries, If she hasnt already spent it I'll tell her to come back and give you your money back" I thought a second and said " well, hell! if you need the money for groceries, Ill just keep em. I can let my grandkids tear them up. lol

sooooooooooo anyone wanna buy a real cheap drum kit? lol

From sun180

The only "deals" I've gotten have been bad ones! I've paid a fair price for my main two kits, not full value but not a steal either...But OH, the bad deals...I've gone to look at piles of shells from craigslist or something, and one half of me thinks, "This is awesome and so worth it, and if I don't grab it someone else will and I'll feel like an idiot..." The other half of me is meanwhile already saying I'm an idiot. That's the part that says "I told you so" for the next few months while I deal with a pile of orphaned mismatched projects.(One possible deal, though, so I don't feel too bad. A pre Ludwig black Ghost bass pedal for three bucks at a thrift store.)Troy, presently trying hard to resist more unnecessary shells.
