I had an early 60's 6 lug Ludwig snare.

I liked it but it could only get a "putt putt" type of sound. Like the kind on recordings where it sounds more like a tom than a snare. I couldn't get a "crisp like lettuce" sound at all. Good for a hard slap "Midnight Hour" thing but not jazz brushes. I always wondered if that was innate to 6 lugs snares.

It was a fun snare to play but for whatever reason I got tired of it, whereas the Supra I don't.
