Recently aquired this one; 20,12,14"...C/list find. Mostly because of the red agate wrap. I think it looks cool.

That is awesome! So together and complete! Nice find! I've got an Astro snare in blue onyx that's a close cousin of these. (It's in pieces right now, need to find a free afternoon to get it together.)
Are those Ambassadors or Emperors on the batter sides?
Is this set a keeper? With that wrap, it should be.
If you would, could you post a close up pic of the snare strainer?
This is a great representation of "the perfect MIJ"- I too bought a very similar kit in blue onyx last year simply because I couldn`t resist the wrap! makes me want to plug in the dusty lava lamp in my closet. I`ll say it again and again- these kits make such fun, small venue companions. I have tried many heads on MIJS and have come back to simple REMO coated Ambassadors on top and bottom as the recipe for them. They will only become more valuable so love em nicelyWalking

Man, those are nice! Please tell me this is a 3 ply kit...it would be so right, well, maybe...For jazz though, it might be a better fit in 6 and 9 ply as they would tune up better for the higher pitches jazz tuning likes.
If you can keep a secret, I am purchasing a 3 ply 20-12-14 kit and it should be here late next week. The wrap is gone so it will be my next project. Instead of traditional wrap, I am going to veneer all the shells.

Beautiful.
Even more beautiful: the cymbal arm in obviously genuine condition on the bass drum.
Even still more beautiful: the small black plastic casing there for the drum key. Is the original drum key (in 'L'-shape, not the 'T'-one) still therein? I still owe this original drum key of my STAR drumset, but my casing didn't survive the centuries ...

Thanks, I'll get some more pics later, I think they're Ambassadors. The snare had an Diplomat on the snare side.

Thanks, I honestly didn't even check the key bag yet. If it is, I'll post pics.

Here's a pic of the edge and strainer. I don't know if it's the original strainer. Obviously something else was there. The key in the bag was not L-shaped. It's a socket style key for the tom mount.
