Here's a pic of one of my "compact" kits that i use for one of my pub gigs.. Bass drum is a late 60's 20x14 Stewart in Blue Agate( or Onyx, not quite sure) and snare is my '66 Ludwig downbeat 4x14 piccolo..Cymbals are all vintage Paiste.. Very warm and punchy little kit.

Looks like the DW cymbal arm that attaches to the hoop. I have one, they're great.
Agopsalott--..It's the Gibraltar L-Arm ride cymbal mount..
They're great as well ;)
Thumbs up!!
Cheers

So very cool and it brings back many memories! The first three years I was actively gigging, -that- was my set-up. An old cat once told me that, 'a 'good drummer' can say what he has to say musically with just a snare, a bass drum, a hi-hat and a ride.' If you can play... that's all you need!
Sweet set-up. Great little kit. Love it.

Very nice, neat snare.

Purdie-- Thanks for the compliment and insight..So true about the minimalist situation..
I once had an American jazz drummer who was in town playing the Montreal Jazz Fest and who had stopped in for a quick pint at the pub after his gig, tell me that he was impressed with the way i handled a small kit like this in a classic rock setting.. He was also keen on my lead vocal ability, seeing as how i'm the lead vocalist in my band..Best compliment i've had in years.. Cheers to all for the compliments ;)
I used to to gig in that pub too! Some of the pubs on Crescent too. A small kit also means less gear to clean Guinness of off because it can get rowdy in some of those pubs. Beautiful minimalist setup btw! And well since Stewart is my family name it has always been my favorite stencil branding Yes Sir

The basic triangle is the Hihat snare drum and bass drum that is all you need for any musical situation.
I played a gig tonight with only a snare and bass drum, no cymbals. Hadn't done that in years, was fun!
