I just bought this electic bongo set from e bay . the owner say's it's from the

60's and maybe one of a kind , made by or for the cbs groupe . i know nothing about it . i just bought it cuz it was old and the price at 16 dollars it it seems worth taking a chance if it actuly worked , and it dose i would not compare it to a td20 , but still fun to bang on and say i bet you never seen this before to my friends . all i know it was made by the cbs group and named masterworks i'm thinking it was made in the early 70's . i'm sure it's not the only one out there . any info or coment would be fun ..

Know nothing about them. And thank G'd they're nothing like a TD-20. Nothing wrong with a TD-20 BY ANY MEANS. $16 is a STEAL, and bunny's in LUV!!!

i did a small test on a cheap guitar amp to see if it actualy worked and the sound of them well better than expected , it dose have some static sound to it , it's probaly got x amount of years of dust build up in the conections and switches that have not been used in years . i plan to clean all the electrical and what ever may need to be done , then i will run it on a 500 watt amp with some fx going thru it . but something tells me that i will like the cheap sound of the day better , i just like things the way they are , like an old record player not mp3 and stuff like that . i'm still trying to find out more about this one . and thanks guy's it is friggin cool old instrument to own .

I used to have quite the collection of analogue drum machines, modules, and the like. What I have found is that there were a lot of low production machines that are so rare that nobody knew about them. They may have appeared once in a drum magazine and even got a review. Then there were either production problems and of course people who had a bias against them. CBS should have been able to get them distributed well enough, so I suspect there were a fair amount of production problems.

What you have is one of those beasts that are so rare that nobody even saw one before. It was probably the only one that the store EVER had on the floor!!! And yet for some reason, none of the studios bought one. I had a few of those types of e-drums and modules, as well as the better known ones (Simmons, Pearl, Tama, Linndrum, Roland, amongst others). The funniest thing is that unless you're looking at a Drum Kat, the triggers have the same anatomy from day one: a piezo transducer takes the pressure or sound and fires the white noise generated to trigger the sound.

Does it have individual outs or just mono or stereo?

I also suspect that it's probably more likely from the mid '70s. Have you checked on synthmuseum.com?

Obviously before the days of the Boss pedal power supply.

I thought I knew of some way for pedals, etc. that were pre-wall wart compatible to use a Boss power supply. Maybe I dreamt it...

One out is GREAT news, as you could use some stomp boxes to fatten that tone. I liked Phase Shifters and light distortion on my mono e-drums.

i will try a bunch of different pedals , i got over 30 brand new one's in the boxes i dont play guitar so here is my chance to put some of them to use . i will let you know how that worked out . i think this would have been great in the 80's with that new wave sound .
