Transition badge Ludwig Blue oyster Last viewed: 19 minutes ago

Came across a Transition Badge 3 piece Ludwig kit in blue oyster on ebay.

here's the description:

UP FOR AUCTION IS A LATE 50'S LUDWIG TRANSITIONAL BADGE DRUM SET. THIS KIT IS IN GREAT SHAPE AND ALL DRUMS HAVE THE RARE TRANSITIONAL BADGE. THE SIZES ARE 20" KICK, 13" RACK TOM AND 16" FLOOR TOM. THE DRUMS HAVE 3 PLY SHELLS WITH RE RINGS. THE WRAPS ARE NICE AND HAVE ALL FADED SLIGHTLY DARKER AS THE PHOTOS SHOW. THE HARDWARE IS NICE...WITH JUST SOME SLIGHT PITTING AS THE PHOTO SHOWS. THE RACK TOM MOUNT WAS CHANGED FROM THE ORIGINAL CLIP MOUNT TO A LUDWIG CLASSIC MOUNT. WHOEVER DID THIS DID A GREAT JOB PLUGGING THE EXTRA HOLES...SEE PHOTO. A CLASSIC MOUNT WAS ALSO ADDED ON THE BASS DRUM, AND THE ORIGINAL MOUNTING HOLES WERE ALSO PROFESSIONALLY PLUGGED. THIS IS A GREAT VINTAGE LUDWIG KIT THAT WOULD MAKE A NICE PLAYERS KIT.

What scares me is that the seller put it's a nice "players kit". I know a kit that has holes isn't a collectors kit, but how does plugging holes affect the sound/value of the drum? Is this kit worth $400, $500? or $200? Let me know!

I remember seeing this one shortly after it posted. I was impressed. I like the kit. If I was still purchasing kits, I would have bid on this one. It will go for much much more than it currently has on it. The last day will show itself and the price will soar. This is a very nice find. If you are serious about the kit, be prepared to pay upwards of 650-1000 for it. That's the range it will see. With ebay, you never know how low or how high a particular auction will go. The range is close though.

Dunno...I like the shell makeup, myself. It's got more warmth and low end than the later m/p/m shells. I owned a full African Mahogany kit and couldn't believe the lows it would reach. Unreal. So, for me it's just a matter of having small drums reach lower.

Found it. Looks cool. Some unoriginal parts but other than that pretty cool.
