Those look great! Sound wise here is what I can offer up based of my own experiences. One of the main kits I use out is 10",12",14" ( the 12" & 14" are deeper than standard so those are floor ) but I keep the 10" tuned high enough for quick rolls, but low enough that it has a 12" / 13" vibe. One of my rock kits is 14" tom 16" floor. If the 14" isn't mid to high it's too low and just loses control. So for that open rock sound I'd say go with a medium tuning on the batter head, and about the same on the reso. Maybe leave the reso a bit looser for real lows. Head wise Remo coated emperors, pinstripes, black dot with evans the G2's,EC2's.

Thank you all.
@Longjohn: yes, I know that video. I know Bonham used emperors but, as I said before, I bought this heads for my Superclassic kit. Now I decided to gig with this kit and will use this heads instead of buying new ones. A friend use them in his Superclassic and he can get a good sound.
Bearing edges almost ready. The bass drum lug nuts were in vinegar for about 2-3 days. I didn't have the time to clean them. I hope they are there yet :)
Daylight photos of the 13" tom. It looks good, doesn't it?

Flea bites fixed on 16" floor tom.

Looks great! I would beeswax/candle wax/ Surfboard/ski whatever the bearing edges. Seals the the fleabites and prevents the heads from binding. Just me though.

Finally - the BIG PAYOFF! Those toms looks AWESOME! What can you ask for when they practically look new again! Great job - keep it up.....around the last corner into the last straightaway!

Thank you DrummerJohn333. More pictures coming soon.
After placing the heads, hoops and rods I was happy with the result, at least visually. I will post better pictures with sunlight soon.Now... I need some advices of tuning. I want a big vintage rock sound. John Bonham is definitely an inspiration to me and I realy like his sound. I know he used high tension all the way and the bottom heads were tighter than the batter heads. Anyway, I know this kit is not a Ludwig, it's just a reference so you can understand what I want. I don't know what I can get from this shells...I did some tests and I noticed the sound I got was open and resonant (maybe "ringy" too ?). What do you think about this heads? I already have felt stripes too, I know probably I'll need it on the bass drum front head. I know there are some guys in this forum that know well this kits and others have experience in tuning, choosing heads, etc. Please leave your comments below. Your help is welcome.
Sometimes these drums originally came with white or black dot heads from the factory.. I would use Remo CS Black dot heads on these drums..They'll control unwanted overtones, will last longer than any other drum head, and keep the drum tone focused..No muting necessary..Bonham used Black Dot heads on his Vistalite drums, and to me, were his best sounding drums..Just loved the attack and controlled tone he got with them, and they're also surprisingly warm.. Perfect vintage 70's-early 80's drum sound.. I just picked up a vintage MIJ kit for next to nothing, and will be putting CS black dot heads on them.. Of course Black dot heads aren't for everyone or every drum. But on yours i think they'd sound great. Remo vintage A clear on bottoms and you're good to go.. Resonant head tuned slightly higher than batter, i would say about a whole turn on the tension rods..Sweet.. Good luck ! ;)
Fresh photos for you. I don't have new heads for the 12" tom at the moment but the shell is ready to assemble.
I'm having troubles tuning the 16" floor tom, maybe I should had put the heads without touching the bearing edges first. Anyway, I'll spend more time trying to figure it out to find the sweet spot.
Come on... Look at this gorgeous kit! Do you like the vibe?
