They are one of the middle-to-better kits Tama currently makes.

It DOES include the snare, so if he can be talked down to $625 or so, it's a good deal.

of course...does your place have any more room for any more drums at this point ? Mind Blowi

Now, if your thought was to turn around and sell them, you probably wouldn't make a profit off of that, in these economic times...

But they are good-sounding drums.

Jaye is the man and I have never questioned any of his posts. But I have to disagree on this one. I believe that kit is a reissue SuperStar from several years ago. It cost about 600-700 back then and is not worth the 700 today. It's a decent kit but is not the Birch shells of the old SuperStar. It was marketed towards the younger entry level kiddos who wanted some quality with their first or second kits. Modern Drummer did a feature several years ago on low priced kits and this one was one of the faves. Again, not a bad kit...just not worth the asking price. I wouldn't pay more than 350-400 for it WITH the original stands. Check out the back issue of Modern Drummer for the specs and review.

Hmmm...OK, thanks for correction...I knew they were newer versions because I have renovated both old Supers and newer ones.

But to me, the shells are still pretty good...definitely a step up from the current variety Rockstar/Stagestar/Swingstar sorta shells: THOSE are what I consider the budget/enrty level shells. These...aren't they finished (i.e. coated/lacquered) inside ?.... and their edges seem more refined.

But OK, maybe I was off on the price. But a Rockstar/Stagestar kit which is between 5-10 years old is still worth about $300-400...so I figure these should be worth $500+ firm particularly including the snare.

But 'fer sure, those old '80s' Superstars....those just made your insides rumble, those shells.

Jaye - Still The Man...You are correct in stating that these sounded good. They were a really good value at the time due to the quality of the hardware, shells, and sound. Modern Drummer loved the kit. I loved the kit. I picked one up in Buffalo for a couple of gigs up there. It really worked out well. Got rid of it and didn't lose a penny on it. If you offer 500, he should jump at that. You will enjoy the kit, for sure. Nice sound and very cool wrap.
