I usually pay no more than 20 for an MIJ snare that is unrestored. If it is clean and the wrap is in really good condition, 50 maybe 60...It all depends on the sound, the heads, all in all the overall originality and also if the strainer is worth a flip. Some of those strainers are crap. Can you get some cl;oseups of the lugs? That will tell if it is Star or Pearl. Orange sparkle is one of the more "rare" wraps. Look at the interior and see if it is a re-ringed shell, they tend to have a better sound, IMO, but that is just me. The 6 ply hard mahogany is very ringy, and not in a good way, unlessd the edges have been properly worked.

If the wrap is in good shape, please leave it on, they are hard to come by in Orange sparkle, but it is ultimately up to you ,as it is your drum....but they are hard to find....good luck, let us see it when you get it in your hands.

From the poor shot, I can see what appears to be a Pearl strainer, so it is likely a 6 ply shell, no rings. I would be surprised to see anything but a thicker lauan shell. If it is a thin one, you will have to get used to the sound, they have a very unique, deep, woodie, smokey sound, and are not able to take a high tension set up, you'll break the shell. If it needs shell work, let me know, I can do it for you, and I work cheap.
