You may know that I've rebuilt a bunch of Speed Kings for other people in the last year...and they seem very well received. Well, THIS is the one that I planned to save for myself.
The best WFL footboard I found. It has NO play at the heel hinge. On ALL the rebuilds I've done, this hinge has been drilled out and nylon bushings put into place. But this one just doesn't need it. I did put in some Dupont "Liquid Teflon" in there, and it may need the occasional lube, but...it is completely original. The WFLs do seem to be more durable.
I replace dthe rocker with a new one. Not because there was anything wrong with the ones I have, but for this one -- my keeper -- I wanted the clean chrome. And it came with a new wing nut (which is now metric, by the way!!).
I also replaced the bearings with new ones; again, the older ones can almost always be cleaned and re-lubed but... well, this was my keeper. New beater, too.
I didn't replace the springs and pistons, because they are made like tanks...just don't wear out! The inside of the frame and the parts have been cleaned until spotless and shiny. I painted the frame with appliance enamel, stainless steel. I THINK it should be very durable, but time will tell.
So... the one I intended to keep is up for sale. $125 is a very fair price - less than the parts and original one I bought. A little help with shipping? How about 6 bucks. I'm glad to ship internationally, but it will be actual shipping so we'll have to talk about it....
So.... email is cell/text is 262-712-7476 ...
Thanks!
