Sniping Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Frowned up by some, apparently essential for me in Europe if I'm going to be in on the many ebay auctions ending at four in the morning (my time).

I've heard e-snipe mentioned and gixen - any other free services? And can anyone give me tips or warn me of pitfalls. Looks like it could be a security nightmare and if there are horror stories it would be nice to know about them now.

In short.....help!

I have never used them, but know others that do and they have not told me of any problems. In fact they like the service.

Esnipe has a 14 day free trial and they do not ask for a credit card or Pay Pal accounts, it might be worth a test run on a few auctions.

Esnipe does ask for your login name and password, I have used it on a few items with success. Being on the west coast, if an auction for an item ends during the day when I'm at work, it has helped me. There isn't any hassle, just put in a max bid. There is always someone who will push up your bid when you max on Ebay and get it by that last few cents. I believe it also is essential in those most wanted items........

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

I think auctionstealer is what my wife uses. She's used it heaps with success.

Obviously, you still have to beat the top dollar already entered into the auction. And we usually use an odd amount, if we don't want to spend more than $50, we'll actually go $51.67 or something.

From what I've seen most auction programs have an option of free usage an subscription service. With the free usage, you sometimes get a limited number of snipes per month, and often a longer minimum time to snipe before the end of the auction. Free ones often snipe no closer than 30secs before the end of the auction. With subscription you can often get as close as 3 secs before the end of the auction. With 30secs it does leave enough time for someone who is watching to beat your snipe. But I don't think that happens often.
