I have a PT Cruiser, and in addition to being able to get an 8 foot ladder in it, with the hatch closed, I also got my Sling set in this car, 24" bass 12/13/14/15 and 18" floor tom, snare bag, cymbal bag, pedal, and 2 long trap cases. People are shocked when they see this, anyone have a smaller car that they can put a whole set in? I'm thinking about getting a new Challenger, but I fear I won't be able to get even a smaller set in that car. thoughts?

I have a 98 BMW 318ti and I can fit my 8, 10, 12, 13, 15 one 22 bass, hardware cymbals and a snare. MAYBE the 16 FT too, but I havent tried in so long I don't remember. (I use the Land Rover now)
Of course I cannot fit a passenger, but that wasn't the question...LoLoLoLo

Back in the mid 70's, I loaded my 22,12,13,14,16 & 5x14 all in cases into my '71 Toyota.
To get the BD in, I had to lay the passenger seat back down and roll the BD into the back seat. Loading the rest was fairly easy. Oh, and I also had to load all my clothes, etc., since I was moving to Alabama for an extended gig.
Here's a pic of the same model.
I have a 2011 Honda Fit and the little bugger is surprisingly roomy. I can fit my entire drum set plus hardware & throne inside easily. All for $15,000 and it gets 40 mpg. It should be renamed 'the drummer's car'. Get one now. Tell 'em Larry sent you. I'll get a free toaster.
Should be fine with the rear seats folded down, cases across the front.. a few old blankets between the drums.. I have a Challenger & the same size shells.
Cheers

Way back when...probably 1963...we got a gig at USF (University of San Francisco). We somehow got my Ludwig Hollywood kit (12", 12", 16", 22" drum hard cases and a trap case) in our sax player's VW Beetle, along with his sax case, of course. He drove from Southern California to SF, the rest of us took PSA (Californians will remember PSA). I don't recall exactly how we fit everything in, but there must have been some things sticking out of the sun roof because I remember worrying that it might rain during the trip up and back.

My 2006 Toyota Corolla holds a soft-cased 12-13-16-22 kit plus two snares; hardware for six cymbals and HH; a 16" roto-tom; a 20" gong and stand; a cart; and a fan. There's not room for another floor tom, but I could easily add some some smaller toms and more cymbal stands.
Loading my kit is part of any test drive, and salesmen are warned that failure is a deal-breaker. I scout the cars before the drive, so I don't waste time figuring out a loading plan. I have yet to meet a dealer who won't agree to a stop at home for this trial.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Back in the 70's my dad used to play a kit that was an 8x12, 9x13, 14x14, 16x16, 5x14, with a GIANT 14x26 bass, trap case, etc. He used to be able to fit it all in the family Mazda 808 (4cyl version of an RX3).....not sure how he fit it all but he did for every gig. Bowing
(And yes, it was a 2-door as pictured)
I got a F-150...I can put the Ft in the middle, the BD on the passenger side, the snare and 13 on the floor,..and the hardware I just throw in the bed !!
