Something looks amiss here to me.

Anybody ever seen a Slingerland shell with the outer ply running vertically?

"Badge in near perfect condition"? I'd hate to see a trashed badge!!!

Dang!!...... can't seem to get the link to load.Ebay item # is 310222502174

It's a nice drum though. I think I'd wrap it in a sparkle:Santa:

Yea this one looks fishy, I can't recall seeing a grain like that on any Slingy, not to mention the janky badge, that is apparently in perfect condition, and the extra holes. Looks like someone slapped a Slingy badge on a MIJ shell to me. I'd be sure to get some pics of the inside before bidding on this one.

I emailed the seller, he claims the shell is a 70s 5ply maple. I have a couple of 5ply shells at home with no wrap on them, I'll check out the grain on the outer ply tonight.

Thanks VM2000.

I agree with you and deadhead looks MIJ to me.

It might be a nice drum, but it doesn't look like a Slingy.

To claim the badge is near perfect when it looks like It's been

hit with a shot gun has got to set off alarm bells re the seller.

I would say that shell is a 60s' M.I.J. shell.outer ply is wrong..If you look at the lugs on the shell they are lower on the shell than slingerland would be...I think the only parts on the shell that are slingerland is the floor tom leg mount's and badge..i don't think even the rim's are s/l they look like M.I.J. copy's so do the lug's..Mikey

Mikey, I was thinking the same thing about the lugs, there just isnt anything that looks right here. I checked out my 5ply shells at home and the grain is just like the shell VM posted. I'll be curious to see the end price on this drum, hope nobody gets hosed.
