Slingerland Super Sound King worth??? Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Loading...

I have a beautiful - completly restored with original parts, COB with COB hoops - Slingerland Super Sound King with the Dual strainers. I bought it on eBay and it was a mess, but, with some work, new heads, and luckily finding an important missing part in an old box of crap in my garage, it is in one piece and a beautiful, great sounding drum. I used Puresound Radio King extended length snares. (No one makes the snare wires for these anymore.)

Anyone able to give me a ball park figure? I will try to take pics in the sunlight with my phone camera. My wife went on vacation with the good camera!

Once I get a price idea worked out, I will be selling it.

Without pics, it's only ballparking. These Slingerland snares usually don't go for much. Maybe a buckfifty or two. That's about it. Your snare sounds like a later model. That doesn't bode well for resell. They are not as collectible as the Krupa. Nice snare, but not a huge market for them.

Actually, it is an early model - serial number 14811

I am adding pictures. I had a guy in Europe bid for one with only half the strainer system a while back. I am hoping, with the low $$ overseas, it may attract some overseas buyers.

You don't see many of these and I would have to believe that they have to be worth more than the friggin zoomatic strainers.

What do you think based on pics?

Cool snare. You are correct. It's one from about 73-74. Sorry to say, these still don't go for much, though. I checked sold on ebay and found they went for about 100-115. Krupa's went for 175-350 (depending on condition). Personally, I would LOVE to have that snare. I love my Krupa snare. Your snare would play as good as the Krupa and the snare mech would be a plus. I wouldn't sell that thing for low money. I would hold on to it and play it.
