GOT 'EM!!!
Thanks.
The spurs from 1970 are the thicker ones. The thinner ones were the first version of those and were around for a couple of years in the real early '60s.
Correct. Except that I have a Buddy Rich kit and it uses the thin ones. Dang. So, I've got to get a set of the thin ones to complete the kit. I've got a set of the thick ones but I don't think it would be too healthy for the wood to widen the hole. It's too darn close to the screw hole. Thin is the way I have to go...unfortunately. Thin is in today.DOH

I'm surprised about that...you can tell the difference because the mount that holds the thin spurs has the old style wing nut that faces the audience (or drummer); the mid-60s and later style had the "modern" wing nut that would be on the side of the mounts screw "into" the bass drum.
Anyway, I have the thin spurs if you need them...I can check to see if I have the mounts.
Still surprised that a '70s drum would have the old style mounts. Sorry to ramble, but if you're just having trouble getting the spurs into the mounts, that may not mean you have a need for the thin spurs. That sometimes happens...the trick is to take off the heads, loosen the screws holding on the spur mounts, then slide the spur into the mount, then tighten the mounts...
I've got a Buddy kit that only had one pair. The store quickly took a set off another kit to use as a 'do-fer' until I could get the correct ones. However, the straight leg is too fat for the current bass mount drill points. If I were to widen the hole (from a thin leg to the fatter leg), it would cross over into the screw hole in the wood and that would compromise the structural integrity. So, I've got to use the thinner legs. Silly, I know.
I have one leg and mount,i may have the other mount,i would have to check.feel free to P.M. if you need any of these parts...thanks mike
