Slingerland Nashville era Radio Kings........... Last viewed: 0 seconds ago
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

No prob! From what my buddy at forks told me, when they made drums in Nashville, Sam Bacco was directly involved, but when they moved to Conway, the people Sam trained were the ones making the drums...so the shells themselves might not have changed I'm not sure on that, but the drum I tried from Conway had cheap lightweight triple flanged rims that actually bent from a few hours of play, and the strainer was a weak link.
Theres a really lore floating around with the Nashville stuff. Lots of guys really hold the snares and the drums in high regard. Never had the opportunity to play a kit. Maybe someone else could speak to that
I believe Greg Morrow still uses his Nashville Slingerlands for session work and the occasionally end up being used by other drummers here in town.
Very proud owner of a new Blaemire Snare 6.5 x 14 made by Jerry Jenkins "Drumjinx"
I bought a set of Nashville era Studio Kings last year from a friend that needed to sell. The moment I got them home andplayed them I retired the Pearl kit that I have been playing for the last 9 years. The finish is exceptional, the seems are flawless, the shells are thin and resonant and the hardware is top notch. The Pearl kit sounded great but these sounded amazing by comparison. I have since sold my Pearl kit and play the Slingerland exclusively. The kit is in a green satin stain with 10", 12", 14" & 16 toms, 16"x22" bass drum and matching 5'x14 snare that sounds KILLER. I will deffinitely vouch for the quality and sound on these drums.

Wow nice! I guess this is why I don't see many of those kits and snares for sale anywhere. People hang onto them. That sounds like a beautiful kit you have~!

I've owned a 90's Nashville Slingerland RK Cloud badge.
Just traded it (plus cash) for a 59 Premier kit. (Will post on that soon)
The very high quality shell and hardware. The stick chopper hoop is a little taller than on the ones of old.
Here are some pics.

An alternative choice could be one of these first "reissue" RKs from 1979. It's my fourth RK and my favorite! Clapping Happy2
Jespo man that snare is a beauty. What did these cost new back then do you know?
Orange that's a real beauty as well. Were the 79 reissues also solid maple shells?
I've been out of the loop so long I have missed a whole lot. LOL.
Thanks for the pics.
