Slingerland Gold Veil Find? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

This could be a rarity, and maybe some crazy special order item, but I think unlikely. If you could post a picture of the date stamp that would be great, as has mentioned above that would be a big clue as to the original condition of the inside drums from the factory.

Mcjnic, it is very yellow not the horribly coloured semi transparent chocolate milk sealing paint we all know from our kits.

The lack of badges could be justified, as this is not unheard of.

Just having a look at that floor tom, the leg brackets arent correct. Also the floor tom legs themselves are not original, slingerland did not move to offset legs until later (assuming the date stamp is original and correct). The washers and screws which can be seen holding the leg barckets in place are notably different.

With this in mind and the point that the wrap (despite its fragile nature) is so badly stretched and torn would make me think this kit has been altered. I would guess it was owned by a particulary ambitiuous player who customized it to extremes.

That does appear to be yellow paint. Icky. Man. That kit was dealt a serious injustice.

I know how to strip the yellow paint . Now I just need to know if its original or not. The FT leg brackets are easy to replace and the extra holes coul be easily plugged. The wrinkles are my problem. Also anybody knows if those two Rail type tom holders are original and correct there? I know is a big project but the rarity of this set makes it worth it

Oh wow. I was bidding on a bass and tom recently that were nowhere near as nice (and they were Stage Bands to boot.) These are to die for, yellow paint or not.

Hello Guys,

Here is my set. 20-12-14 all original stands. Date stamped 1964. Catalouged finish 1957-62, So Slingerland evidentally had these shells in the warehouse, no badges on my toms either. Only the Bass, Black and gold Niles, Mine has a 2 hole rail consolette, like they used prior to '63 yours has the slingerland 4 hole. That yellow interior of yours was painted on by someone, Tough to get that stuff off. This wrap is delicate. I've been using mine on small jazz gigs, sound amazing. Neat when an old fellow walks up and says he only seen that finish once or twice years ago. Round Badge
