didnt want to open noew topic but i have to ask... whats with the prices on slingerland cob snares... they seem to go up so high... over a year ago you could buy cob snare for $100-$200 now the go for $300 or more... i know it is a great snare (i have one) but...

One difference will be that not all COB shells will be brass. Like Ludwig, and perhaps others, Slingerland chrome plated both copper and bronze shells. It depended on the metals market and they usually went with what was cheaper at the time.

I really do believe my 79' Spitfire is bronze. Sounded way too different that the Krupa I had. I don't think 3 extra vent holes can make that much of a difference.
