Do the club date kits sound that great ?? I heard mixed things about them.

I think the Clubdates were cool drums! They had less hardware than the Classics, so even though all the ClubDates shells were the same, their overall weight was less...which may have had some bearing on the sound...but I would have to A/B them to see if there was a detectable difference.

Interesting that the ClubDates were an "economy" model in comparison to the Classics....Then, in the late 60's when the Standard line came out, the Standards took over as the economy line...So, the major differences were all related to the shape and/or placement of the lugs -the shells were the same -the bearing edges were the same -everything!
