Rogers Powertone - How much? Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Hey guys Im new here but it sounds like you guys know what you are talking about so i figured I'd give this a try. I have a small rogers set that I got when I was young (used then) I used it growing up learning how to play and then got myself a different set when i got older. I am looking to sell the rogers set so I can have some money to get my family some xmas presents but im not sure how much I should ask for it or where i should try selling it. I tried selling it on craigslist and ended up in a scam with a guy that i luckly didnt fall for but now i dont feel I can trust that site, so then i brought it to a music go round and they said they could give me $100 at most which depressed me since i bought my 4 year old a drumset for more than that and I hear Rogers are worth at least something. so anyways I was wondering if you guys could help giving me some info on my set and hopefully what type of price I could expect to get from it.

I know that the set isnt anything super special since its a standard Black swivalmatic powertone set. its a black bass drum that has a connection to a black tom with a swival matic arm. and then i have the powertone snare. All the pieces are powertone, fullerton, CA with the rogers script logo (from the stuff i read that means it was made between 70-72) Oh and the bass drum also has its spurs.

All the pieces still have thier paper tags in them. the bass and tom only have the front hoop on them (dont know why this is but thats how i got it) The only piece that I believe is broken is the thing that tightens the tom to the swival arm has one of the two prongs busted off but still works (im sure someone could find a new one for it)

I will post some pictures since im not the best to describe it, but please ask questions and i will try to answer right away. Like I said I would like to try and sell it before xmas if possible so i can get presents. so if you can give me a possible price range and where would be best to sell it I would appreciate it alot and I respect you guys answer since you seem very knowledgable.

Thanks agian guys!

Hello and welcome.

Snare = $125-150 if no dings or dents...hell the throwoff alone is worth $75+ (but don't take it off, sell the whole snare together).

Tom and bass (incl the tom arm) = $250-300 assuming no extra holes or shell or bearing edge damage and all swivo thumbscrews are working OK.

That tom arm alone is worth $80-100, because it's a long version...so if you separated that out and sold it separately, the Bass and rack tom = $175-200.

Too bad the Floor Tom is no longer.....

Nevertheless, nice old stuff and you can definitely get some good market value on 'em....

Sorry you had a bad C'list experience....but that'd be my first suggestion. Scammers suck, and they are now all over the place there.

I always write in my C'list Ads : "local sale and cash transactions only - no buy-trades, thanks". Then as soon as someone sends me an e-mail asking to pay with a certified check.... or asking me to ship it to their fookin'' mission... in Benin..... I know they are scammers.

The other option is eBay, if you know someone who has an account or if you wanna start your own. The positive is it tends to fetch a higher price on eBay...the negative is, you have to SHIP the dang things, and a 24" bass drum shipped is gonna cost a hecka lotta $$$$ because the box needs to be so big...we are talking $100+ shipping fee if you stuck all of those in one box.

Or you can try to sell it here, that 24" bass drum might go fast. There are a lot of Rogers junkies here!

I have a 16" floor tom that would turn that set into something far better than the new drums you just bought.
