rogers holiday 1958 - thoughts please Last viewed: 25 minutes ago

Hello as a newby,

came across 1958 Rogers Holiday black 20, 13 16 and dynasonic snare, cleveland ohio, all stickers intact, comes with original foot pedal and cloth bags, been advised all stock standard and in VGC.

Have not seen kit in person as lives 100kms away.

Asking price seems way over top ie $3000.aust, I do not want to burn bridges with possible insult offer, so how do you suggest I approach this because at the end of the day the kit is very collectable.

If it is a wood Dyna, it is probably worth that by itself..check the bay for closed Dynasonic snares, wood.

Well - over here that's way too expensive - it's not a great color & worth maybe max. $1400-1700usd here...but l can dig that Down Under there aren't tons of 'em floating around. l think offering $2200au is hella fair & high side - l mean how badly do you want the kit ?

Thx Jaye for your response, the interesting thing he states that all the interest shown for kit so far comes from overseas(?) and that his pricing for such a kit is based on previous prices realised from US sales, as you state top price for this is mid range $1.4-$1.7k so I wonder where he is getting his price reference.

Don't tell me he may be a 7th dan in truth stretching.

The Dynasonic was introed in 1961. So the set isnt 58 and all original. And in 58, it probably should still be sporting eagle badges. Definitely the drums should have black painted interiors. I would do some research if I was you, before making any offer.

Those are beavertail lugs, introduced in mid 60's. Can't make price estimate for Australia myself. Unless those are unusual sizes with COB dyna, thinking in the $750-900 range for US.

What sizes? Looks like 20"-12-16 perhaps?

Yes, correct. It's a nice enough kit...but the Beavertails ain't from '58. The seller is off there.

And I agree, likely it's a 12" rack.

$800 for the 3 pc. if it's in very good shape...$300 tops for the snare.

So, I revise the value down to coincide with Amos & Plough. Top market value here in US would be $1100-1200usd ; and again....that color doesn't exactly light any fires for most folks.....

Seller is being very unrealistic. Granted, the "foot pedal" (meaning bass pedal I assume) and some bags included ups it maybe another $100usd...and you are in AU...so, seriously, I doubt he could even get $1600usd equivalent for that for a domestic sale.
