Rogers Dynasonic Snare Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Hi I'm JPB and I'm new to the site. It looks interseting. So many beautiful vintage drums and kits. I have an odd collection of stuff too I suppose. I will post the specs shortly. I've got a 7 piece Milestone kit that I love to play club dates with and a 5 piece Gretsch kit that I bought new in '73. I use it for loungier gigs and its always set up in the basement when its home. It was originally part of one of those "octoplus kits" with a twist because the bass drums were 18" and 20". The toms have no bottom heads except for the floor tom. I still have the 20". Its a nasty little thing and I would never part with it.

I've got a Rogers Dynasonic snare serial # 43130 that I bought at a yard sale. I couldn't belive the shape it was in, I'd say almost perfect but there is no chain on it and the dude had weird heads on it. I am willing to part with it but first have to find out what a fair price would be. I could use any help you guys can give. Its pretty and a part of me wants to keep it but I have an old Ludwig 7 incher that I got new in "73 that's kind of like it and I don't need the two.

I also have an old aluminum Coronet 5" snare that sounds really good. Anyone know a little about the origins of those? I remember hearing a guy with one of the sweetest snare sounds I've ever heard in a club. Even the other musicians I was with commented on it and it was this snare. I have no idea how old she is.

That's it for now.

Don't forget to work on your rudiments and eat all your vegetables.

JPB.

[COLOR="DarkRed"]More info needed on the Dynasonic. Is it a "Big R" badge ? Am assuming chrome ? Does it have the complete snare gate assembly intact. RThey range from $200-600 depending on the answers to those Q's....wood ones go for over $1000....

Coronet was a Japanese stencil in the '60's...so it was likely made by Pearl back then. They did make some decent snares, the upper-end models...very hardy hoops and solid shells.....usually the throwoffs left something to be desired, though....
