I'm not interested in buying these drums, I just would like to figure it out. Ok, here's my input...

(I'm going by my Rob Cook Rogers book)

1. Compact X-1973...the sizes are there 12,13,15 and the 20 bass drum (there's more drums to this kit), but, they were all concert toms. 15inch on a tom stand.

2. Ultra Power IX 1973...12,13,15 NOT concert toms, but, the bass drum was a 24. There are legs on the 15 floor tom.

The seller has stated that the previous owner rewraped the kit....9/72 stickers on the toms, looks like a blank pre-72 sticker on the kick. Did the original owner complete a 15inch concert floor tom? Or, just had orphan 12,13,15,20, then did a rewrap? The 15inch floor tom leg mounts are not original, what's the story? Isn't $1200 waaaaay high for this drumset? I like $300, but, that 15 is kooky. Isn't 15inch floor toms more of a Gretsch thang?

Rogers early Fullerton Blue Strata 22,13,16 w/brass Dynasonic
My first kit, 1983 Ludwig Rocker? (it has the classic lugs and 4ply maple shell) 22,12,13,16 ..now in black oyster pearl. I still have it
Stop Sign USA Gretsch (80's), black nitron jasper shell 22,12,13,16
1995 Fibes Austin,Texas Badge (original owner) 22,10,12,16,18 in natural wood
USA 2007 Rosewood Gretsch 22,13,16 w/12inch 70's Rosewood Gretsch tom

[COLOR="DarkRed"]Maybe someone just did what I always do....take 12x15 shells and make 'em FT's.

15's are awesome FT's.

I agree with all of your observations.

The 12x15 was likely a low rack tom once. It may well have always been double-headed, they come up fairly often. Obviously, those leg mounts are a generic addition.

The removal of the original mounting system, plus the rewrap, makes the kit hardly worth the opening bid. Hell, I rewrap and rehab all the time, but with a Rogers, particularly, you gotta throw on the original hardware everywhere.

My guess is there are some filled holes in those shells, too. Again, not a horrible thing....but...it does drop the value a bit.

Looks like a converted hanging tom. The mounts are not swivomatic Rogers and likely added on later. Wing toms were 12x15. I would bet real floor tom was closer to 14 or 15 deep. It can sound great though. I converted one a couple of years ago on a rescue kit. Left it with hanging mount and did the job quite nicely.

Ask to see inside shots of the tom - might be repair from hanging tom mount shows up unless nicely painted over.

Opening bid is about max for final price, especially for a recover with bad seams. Good luck with at his pricing.
