has anyone ever had their old lugs replated. I have an old Pearl kit (70's), and I hate the replacement lugs you can buy for them. I've thought about replating them, but I don't know if the plating is true chrome or zinc or what. anyone had it done. Does anyone know what I'd be looking at costwise?

Ad says "No job to small."
I'm going try them on my old tom mount. Maybe you can get an idea on your lugs.
Best of luck,
Jim

Thanks Jim!!

let us know how they work out for you, and how much it costs
Currently awaiting a quote from them.

I called them and asked them to jump on this discussion board and maybe answer questions that people might have about the replating process.... there was a long silence on the phone but the young lady who answered said she would give it a try. So we'll see what happens.
She also mentioned they were having a little trouble with their online quote submission form and ask that I simply email her the request at

I'm in no big hurry so I'll just keep chipping away at this and see where it ends up.

Hey,
I want to have my Ludwig lugs re-nickled. I have a place that may do it. Just waiting for their response/fee quote.
Has anyone had any lugs re-nickled ?
Does this devalue the lugs ? - as I really don't like altering original parts at all
I'm also considering having the rims re-nickled too
It's my understanding from reading about the replating processes - Is that surface preparation by the individual/company that does the re-plating - is the most important factor in the process.
Hope to have some input from you folks on this one. Thanks.
John
waiting to hear from you on the nickel plating; don't forget to post..marko
I've had all my Ludwig lugs stripped bare and re-chromed.
They now look mint!
The kit has been so badly messed with that It'll never be worth anything. It's an extreme restoration as the kit was rescued from a fire!
If you've got a collectors piece I wouldn't touch it.
