Blair, did you noticed that they're ALL playing reversed (sax and bass)? The photo was printed completely reversed on that cover. Funny.

Wanted to add though...

Where is the Pink Floyd BACK cover of Ummagumma (sp?) with Nick's double bass Premier kit..I saw that when it first came out...and it seemed like SO much equipment at the time!

Also,inside the gatefold of the first Uriah Heep,and the pic of Nigels Prem kit?

The back covers of albums more regularly included lived shots incorporating drums than the front covers. One of my favourite albums from the 60's the first Moby Grape had a number of distinctions.

1. Drummer Don Stevenson lost his middle finger somewhere along the line--some covers he has five digits, some just four. Washboard accident perhaps.Didn't seem to affect his playing...

2. The back cover had a great live shot of the band with Stevenson on his Rogers. Lots to like about this pic.

Do you know the story on how the "finger" came to be?

I read that someone doing the photos kept taking them from place to place,to get the right shot...it went on all day I recall...

Thats why he is giving him the "free bird" in the pic!Tired of all the pics!Cool1
