Mirror chrome isn't really considered a rare finish....it is actually a bit of a handicap in selling a vintage kit (unless it is really cherry) because that stuff didn't age very well.
It's also probably the thick shells, not the nicer 5-ply maples of the '70's or the even better 3-ply with re-rings of the '30's-70's. You could ask...I mean, it's not a great pic, but looking into the bass drum it could be one of the last 3-plys. they became the optional shell spec in the late '70's, but apparently were still available up until around '82.
There was a poor guy here on C'list who was trying to sell his 5-pc for, seriously, a good 6 mos. No takers, & last time I saw the ad... he had it down to $350.00 asking price.
Actually, I like Mapex kits....they are one of the better contemporary, affordable brands.....[/COLOR]
