Well I know these questions may be somewhat annoying but here we go. Not even sure these would classify as vintage. I found a 1982 Premier five piece kit 22/9x13/16 with a snare and cannot remember the size of the other mounted tom. Good condition. He is asking $500.00 with stands and zildijan cymbals. I really don't know much about premier. Looking for a nice older kit to play on and these have my favorite finish champagne sparkle. Any one have any idea what these shells may be made out of? Thanks for any help or adviceband3 Looking for a ballpark figure

Big Q: are they painted interiors, or can you see the natural woodgrain on the interior of the shells ?
If painted, those are asian-imported Luan shells and not the greatest shells.
If wood, with the grain direction running parallel to the edges (i.e. grain not running from res side to batter side) then probably typical premier Birch shells and much, much better shells.
If painted, $500 is a so-so price, BUT it depends if the Zildjian cymbals are a good line and also of that era. If they are A's or better, then the cymbals themselves are worth about $200-300. That would sweeten things up considerably.
If natural interior as described above, $500 incl. cymbals is a very good deal....even if the cymbals are just so-so Zildjians.
Champagne Sparkle?? can you post any pictures of the kit? You sure it's an 82 year? Premier used to stamp the inner shells with an ink date stamp ie4572 week 45 year 1972. More details needed but $500 seems a good price to me even better if like the last reply said it comes with decent Zilds.
Thanks for the responses guys. I was sort of thinking the same thing for a name brand kit with cymbals and zildijans $500.00 isn't to bad of a deal. May have to call him and ask about the color of the shells interior and what type of zildijans. I found the add on craigslist and there was not a picture. The guy told me they were 1982.Sounded like he bought them new in 1982 but I could be mistaken. They were posted on craigslist about a month ago and never sold so we will see what happens. Downside is he lives about 4 hrs away but I have family about 30 minutes away which I planned on going to see soon anyway. I started playing with two friends and I am kind of paranoid to leave my rogers holiday kit there. Sentimental value and all.
Well keep us posted if you get to see 'em. Sounds like an OK deal. I AM curious about the champagne sparkle on an '82 aged Premier kit though...that sounds a bit out of the ordinary to me.....
