A few years a go I purchased a Premier 2000 chrome snare drum at a garage sale. It has the classic premier lugs and throw with the bar through the snare and rounded die cast hoops. I'm trying to put a firm date on it. It has no date inside. The badge says Premier drum company. I know after 84 it would say Premier percussion. I also know that in the 60's the "P" had serifs. Mine has no serifs but the name PREMiER is all caps except the I. Any ideas on the year?

The drum itself looks exactly like the one at the top of the page, but the badge looks like the one on the 1026 steel snare below on the page.

hi all, that is a late modell 2000 late 80's earl nineties,a fine drum!
The only reason I disagree bishop, is because in '84 Premier changed their name to premier percussion, and reflected that on the badge. This according to the premier timeline. Mine still says "made in England"

One of the big problems trying to get an exact date on any Premier was due to the inconsistency of serial numbers and their practice of using up old inventory before going with the new stock. Many drum kits they have put out often have mixed parts from the previous lines. You'll get within a 5 year period or so, but for an exact year, no.
My latest entry, a Premier's '303 Outfit' has totally different badges nos.:
Bass drum: 12219
high tom: 11252
mid tom: 3537
floor tom: 9593
I can't hardly believe that someone had tried to put together such a set (in the same finish) waiting and collecting it over such a long period of time, as what the badge nos. would imply. My opinion is that it was sold fresh out of the production and complete with these badges nos..

Regarding my Premier 2000 snare, I guess I would be happy to know if it is a late '60s, (most likely not) early '70s (possible), late '70s (also possible) or early '80s (I don't think so, but I don't know)
It's all original and I think the Premier 2000's didn't change at all for their entire production. Although mine does not have the original slotted tension rods, they were most likely replaced or not offered in the U.S.
