The lugs look like a TAMA. They made 2 types of BT look alikes in the very early days, one the Swingstar, the other unknown, maybe the first gen of the Sings before the big switch. That snare os rather different. See of he will send you the pix so we can get a better look.

These look like Island Music big R style MIT's-Gretsch Blackhawk etc.Alot of different combos here as far as hardware and brands,but 10 lug bass.....I think other brands also used this configuration and hardware,too.
