Pearl drums value. Last viewed: 4 minutes ago

Hey guys hope you can help me out with your opinions/expertise and not cruicfy me for posting a set that dosen't qualify as vintage. I lurk here alot and there seem to be some knowlegable folks on here. Here's my story. Bought this kit about 10-11 years ago when I started drumming. Didn't know but about drums figured they all pretty much sounded the same and never thought about sizes.*Hangs head in shame*So I bought the pearl kit at the time. Soon after started researching drums became familiar with rogers liked the looks of vintage drums lo and be hold one day walked into the local drum store and purchased a rogers cleveland holiday kit 4pc and have been playing those ever since. So finally dragged the pearl out of the basement. Wow was surprised how much rust accumulated on the pearls. After days of cleaning, polishing, I have removed all the surface rust bought chrome polish and they look almost as good as new. A little bit of pittng on the chrome here and there not to noticeable. So these are maple shells. Black. 24x18, 12x13,

13x14, 18inch floor tom. I have a 70's silver sparkle snare unknown brand :confused:to throw in and try to sweetin up the deal. The drums have all maple shells serial numbers but no name such as export etc(for example). I can try to post a pic if that would help. Just wondering what's a ballpark figure you would ask? Thanks. Sorry post is so long

A pic would help. Also, try the Pearl Drummers Forum if you are keen to identify the model/series. They sound pretty decent, and an 18" FT by itself is usually worth a good penny....

Post some pics, but it sounds like MX/MLX series (MLX = lacquered, MX=wrapped). I've got a snare that matches your set. It used to be black but I changed it a little:

I'm currently helping a guy, via email, on a makeover of the same kit, but with more drums - two basses, 5 toms and a snare.

In great shape they're worth a good bit of money. Your four piece with the odd snare would probably fetch $600 - $800.

Jaye and leray thanks alot I really do appreciate the response. I will try to post a pic tomorrow of these drums. They are in excellent conditon and have cleaned up really nicely. Like I said there was a little surface rust but that came off fairly easy and now they look excellent. They do sound really good but I prefer the smaller size drums andThe Band primarily use my rogers so it's time to let these go.I was thinking about putting them on craigslist for $495.00 and going from there. May have to go the ebay route and put them a bit higher. Thanks again,The Band

If they are maple shells and you are including a snare, $500 is a very good price...albeit, C'list buyers are incredible cheapskates, so that may be the best you can do with it on there.

I agree, maybe eBay'd be better...but...it'd be NO fun to pack and ship a kit with a 24" bass AND an 18" FT...so I understand that for the hit you might take in selling on C'list, it might be worth the convenience....

I hear you about craigslist. Tire kickers, scammers, and low ballers. I don't really mind the low balling. I mean if you want a hundred for something put it for $175 and let them think they are getting the best of you l. I have a item on there now for 50 bucks and some scammer wanted to send me a thousand dollar check yada yada keep the 50 then send him the rest. I wasn't born yesterday pal that nonsense really irks me. I am computer illiterate but have a friend who says on ebay and says he will help me out so may have to go that route. Thanks again for the advice

I can attest to the hassle of shipping large and numerous drums. I shipped my 7 piece Pearl DLX set earlier this week - 24", 18", 15", 14", 13", 12" and a snare, plus the full hardware set. It was very difficult to find boxes, for one. And very difficult to get everything to fit, for two. I had to take all the tom toms completely apart, wrap everything, secure it all, etc. Not to mention it cost $150 to ship them. But I did get more off da' bay than I would have off of CL, so it was worth it, I guess.
