How close sonically are the new re-issues compared to the hard to find originals? Paiste claims them to be a "faithfull recreation" of the originals....anyone?

LD when paiste recreated the 2002 black lettered, and giant beat line they took the best of the best of the originals and used those as the template, so in other words there awesome!!!,Bowing

So you're saying that they sound EXACTLY like the original issues?
They are smack dab right on the money. No doubts. Play an aged setup of the Giant Beats next to the new ones (once broken in with mallets) and you would be hard pressed to find any subtle differences. They did a wonderful job of this. Even though the originals aged and one would assume "mellowed", they took that into account when putting these together. They have that mellowness 'built in', so to speak. Excellent reissues.
I've been debating for a while as to pick some up or not....I think these statements help in a resounding yes! Cool Dude

LD-- where you are there's got to be a stuper store where you can go listen to them??? or a least a good music store?? but yes paiste did an extensive sound modeling on the black lettered 2002's and the giant beats, they sound sampled the best of the best in their test group and then patterened the reissues after them, mcjnic said it well!!Cool1
