Ordered "No Brand" hi-hats for $33? Last viewed: 1 second ago

I'm sure everyone is used to these posts from me by now...I order cymbals that are listed "misc" or "no brand" in hopes of getting something that sounds decent :) Really, I only order them if I think I have an idea what they are. The one looks like vintage Zildjian to me for sure...not so sure on the other one. Hoping it's an old A and K. What do you think? Not sure what to think about the 13" part....I don't see them as often (in vintage cymbals that is).

Not really sure if they are Zildjians, but I will say that you are the King at acquiring inexpensive, decent sounding, cymbals!! Looking forward to your review of these!

Maybe an Avedis on the left and something Italian on the right? Just my first thought on seeing the pic. Fingers crossed for something that sounds good.

That would be cool! They definitely match in color (B20) to my eye.

The one on the right (in picture 2) looks like it could be a cheapie brass. The wide lathing concerns me a bit (especially on the bell), plus it looks just tarnished enough to possibly be confused with B20 bronze. The one on the left might be an old Zildjian.

Keep us posted!

Got the hats yesterday...haven't got a chance to record/demo them but they sound great to me! I don't have any 13" hats, so that part is cool too. They have no markings or stamps on them and seem to be a matching set. They measure right under 13" (see pics) so I'm wondering if they are made in Italy? I haven't weighed them but they are very light/thin. Either way, I like how they sounds and will be keeping them :)

Glad they worked out for you!

Could be Italian, since it doesn't measure a full 13"s. I think real Turk cymbals measured correctly. I love 13" hats. They seem quicker and and usually have a nice tone, at least to my ears. There is a little less real estate to lay the stick on though, so you have to pay attention or you might miss! :p

The lathe chatter on the underside of that cymbal looks distinctly Chinese to me.
