Old Pearl Snare Last viewed: 11 hours ago

Hi All

I bought the snare second hand a while ago and really liked it, However I kept finding the free floating system was getting in the way and so have resorted back to my vintage Premier Heinz 57 (ie it was made for me out of various parts). Anyway I've decided to sell the pearl...

When I bought the Pearl, I was advised that it was approx 10years old.

The first listing on Ebay was going quite well untill Ebay unexpectedly removed my add as it stated that the Snare was advertised elsewhere and that I reserved my right to end the auction early, so I've had to relist...

However this time I have recieved a message from an Ebay member that advises me

"Hi, just to let you know mate that that drum is way older than 10 years! Pearl stopped making that lug setup in the earl 90's and changed to a tube free floating lug. Sort of makes that drum vintage and if it's in good shape quite a nice find really! "

Can anyone please confirm if this is right, I've been researching old Premier but know pretty well nothing about Pearl, I'd appreciate any information anyone can give me, as I am unsure weather I should pull the advert and relist with a more in depth history.

The Ebay item is:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270176015713&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=017

or item number: 270176015713

Many thanks

OK, I've been looking around this website and have found this snare to be a B-914p dated around late 80's. I know that my snare has a little sticker on the inside of the shell that sayz

'FREE FLOATING SYSTEM SNARE DRUM

PAT. PEND. USA., JAPAN

PEARL MUSICAL INSTRUMENT CO.'

I don't know if this helps to date it a little more closely or not.

Anyone that knows any more, please feel free to leave your thoughts.

I think that is close enough! An exact date, is not that important to most.

Still, not technically considered "vintage" to the vintage community, but almost 20 years old....

Late 80's it is...
