Old Man Rant: How hard is it to spell cymbal? Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

From Mr.Toast

I also see drums from time to time that are listed as Evans, or Remo Ambassador drums.

That's not really that surprising. If a completely unaware non drummer is selling a set of drums he or she acquired, the logos on the heads are very likely the most prominent indicator of a name, and an incorrect assumption is made.

[QUOTE=pgm554;435918]We're not supposed to get political on these threads, but this has been a an issue for a very long time.My music related vignette is as follows:6th grade report card day ,one of the students in my class gets ill.I'm a patrol boy at the time ,so teacher asks me to walk him home.He shows me his report card (basically all failing grades for most of the school year). We move on to middle school ,and from there I don't see much of him around.Cut to my sop****re year and I'm playing Pomp and Circumstance at SR commencement.I see that student walking down the aisle graduating 2 years ahead of me.A little thing called social promotion dictated that he graduate with his own age group regardless of academic performance. There was a point in time where a high school diploma was worth something, but that has long since gone by the wayside. And we're talking about the Leave it to Beaver era.As for spell editors ,maybe they're broken.Seems I can't use the term sop****re (sophom0re) without being censored.pgm554!First, yes ... we try to keep posts/threads NON political, religious, etc ... and the reasons for that are most obvious, and especially so in today "political climate", as it were! That said though ... I agree with you cats completely! Course, this would be a whole 'nother discussion, and on a forum that supports that content. Nothing wrong with this thread so far though! Also ...... the reason S O P H O M O R E was edited/censored in your post .. and, it's the way the software was set up/written, as David and I have nothing to do with it, nor do we always agree with it! .. is, S O P H O M O R E contains this "word" within it's spelling: ... H O M O... It's that simple! Ridiculous to edit/censor? ABSOLUTELY! But, it is just the way it is with this particular software. There ARE ways around it as you just saw me write, but that is up to the OP's discretion/choice. Carry on!Tommyp

So I guess we cannot speak about **** sapiens or ****genized milk either. Or even ****geneas. It does get kind of silly. It is seems that anybody who uses those letters is somehow assumed to be using a ****phobic epithet. In all the years I've been here I don't think I've ever run into automatic censorship by the software before. Since I suppose the letters in many words taken out of context could have a negative meaning, I'm surprised I had never noticed it.

Just wait til AI starts analyzing what you write and applying SJW/PC censoring to your composition.

Things like irony and irreverence will soon be banished from written public discourse.

i seriously doubt if publications like National Lampoon would have a chance if they were a startup today.
