Not-exactly-vintage: Gretsch New Classic Last viewed: 27 minutes ago

I adopted a set of the Gretsch New Classics. Hanging a tom from a cymbal stand was never something I could get into.

I'd like to use the Maxwell rail, with the diamond plate, but I'm not so sure about positioning. I sit pretty far back - I have a hard time visualizing the geometry. Anyone with experience?

Also -- I started playing when the rails were all there was. And they were a real pain in the ass - they slipped, stripped, etc. That's why the post mount was such a huge relief! I'm thinking Steve's design and build will be MUCH more friendly!

I had the same set. Kinda wanted to do a rail mt, but was afraid of hurting resale. Took the mount off, and used a snare stand, my usual for a 4 piece set. Adjustable, retro, and I happened to have one that worked well. Great sounding drums, and an incredible deal for the money! Did end up selling them, just not me, too heavy for a gigging set, etc. Replaced by a set of Dayton era Rogers..........
