Nice Completet Acrylic Kit - Value, Rare?? Last viewed: 8 hours ago

Hey Guys,

I found this neat little kit. It is a complete set of Werco Acrylic Drums in great condition. Drum sizes are 20" Bass, 13" Tom, 16" floor and matching snare. No cracks, dings, scratches (maybe a few minor) at all in the drums. The bass drum has acrylic rims and there is split in one, but it has been reglued back together. Any information on this kit would be great. How rare and how much is it worth?

Thanks

Crazy that a (I'm guessing) cheap-o stencil acrylic looks better than 99% of the Vistalites I've seen in person. Now, I don't know a lot about stencils, but I know a little about acrylics. Clear isn't the most exciting but these are clean and the snare is included and I've never seen a set of Werco before. The acrylic rims are a nice touch too.

Someone else will probably be better at assessing a value. I've been kind of itching to own a clear kit again and I really dig the knock off Sonor look but I also like to haggle, so I'm not sure where I'd fall on the spectrum. $500 feels like solid "good deal" territory from a buyer's side, but I don't know if that would be a fair price to the seller.

$500 is what I was thinking, too...BUT, if it really as cherry as the pics make it look, maybe bump it up to $600-625 just for the condition and MOJOCool1 factor

...definitely a Japanese stencil....but some details look like Star (i.e. Tama before it was called Tama) as opposed to Pearl. Such as the tom receiver mount and the muffler knob.....

The snare throw is throwing me off...is it original or a replacement ?

That is a pretty COOL old set. I would actually lay 6 bills for it if I came across it...

The snare is original to the set. He has the the original receipt that shows it all was bought together. I think the date on the receipt was 1975.

DANG! That is one seriously cool kit. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I kept looking for some clue that someone took old hardware off a kit and slapped it onto some new shells. DANG!...again.

Yes, these looks like Star. To me of you replace the Werco badge to a STar badgen I guess you HAVE a STar. Anyway all the chroom hardware on the drums are the same like star. And the made so much more label with those same hardware.

I believe Werco's were Hoshino.....which is Tama.....they were the first Japanese company to offer acrylic kits IIRC.....
