The lathing is the thin circular lines going around the cymbal from the top of the bell to the outer edge. It done while the cymbal is on a lathe which rotates while a parting tool is held against it to remove metal, resulting in the lines. Most, but not all, cymbals are lathed. It part of the manufacturing process. Lathing and hammering differed in various periods and hand lathing and hand hammering differ from, and are prized more than, machine assisted lathing and hammering.

Ah, gotcha. Now that y'all say that, I can see the difference. Thanks for the help and the information guys.
I guess Drumaholic never jumped in. Seems like everyone said he's the man. Probably going to sell everything and was kinda hoping to get an idea on price.

I already told you what a recent pair of those K Zildjian hats went for. With regard to the 60's A. Zildjians, as good as they may be, they are very common and not worth that much. I've seen some 18s and 20s with that stamp from less than $100 to maybe $130 or perhaps a bit more on a good day.

Gotcha, Mark. But it was a new set of k's that sold on eBay you gave me the price on. Please don't take that as unappreciative, I just didn't know if there was going to be a variation in price in the old as opposed to the old. I do appreciate all the info you've given me.

What I said was "A pair of new stamp K. Zildjian hats just sold on ebay for $560. " A new Stamp is a designation for two sub type stamps of old Istanbul K's. The older new stamps were from 1967 to 1972. The newer new stamps were 1972-1977. The ones sold that I mentioned were similar to, and just as old, as yours. That's why I used it as an example. There were no Istanbul made K. Zildjians past around 1977. There are no new sets of old K's.

If you're going to sell, please let us know where and when? An update posted in this thread would generate an alert and keep us all informed. Thanks.
