your drum is a Sakai made drum, same as Gracy and Delray.

I know the name Sakae, and they were the makers of Yamaha drums until about 2009 I wanna say ( somewhere in there ) However to my best knowledge Del Rey,Gracy,Rocket, As well as countless others were manufactured by Hoshino ( non Star version ) as it was the other of the big three stencil brands. Yamaha in the 1960's was making drums as we know, but I don't think they pumped out any stencil brands as did Star & Pearl. Kenwood might have some other knowledge or input on this one.

I also would have said whoever made Gracy made that drum. Even the badge is similar. Funny that the lugs are actually very accurate Gretsch copies at least to look at. I like it...
Jay, thanks for your input! I have not paid much attention to the MIJ drums to be honest. It is interesting how all of these Japanese company made so many drums.
Tom, good to hear from you! Ya I like the drum too, its pretty cool. It does have couple issues with the shell but the wrap and the chrome is cleaning up like new. Most of the fasteners are rusted and need cleaned, the inserts were stuck to the springs so they are soaking in you know what.
Thank you!

Jeff - Nice looking snare. I have a similar one which carries a Rocket label. The condition is fair, but I just liked the look of the wrap.

KCDrumDad - That is the only other snare I've seen with the Rocket badge. I'll have to find the photos of mine, but it also has a very unusual wrap. And interestingly enough, Kenwood has a kit in the same wrap as my snare. Yours is Red Diamond pearl correct? ( is that the actual name for that wrap?? )

Great Snare, Jeff! It looks exactly like my Gracy BDP snare, right down to the same exact badge. I'll attach a picture when I go grab it from my storage facility.
Nice looking drum, Jeff! The baseball bat lever is a little added bonus to the look. The vintage Japanese snares offered some of the most unique looking wraps, that's for sure. Here's one I saw on line the other day. I think this is probably one that you either love or hate with no middle ground. Congrats on your purchase!
