What a beauty how's the sound

So I have this kit setup to next to my Sonor SQ2. For those who do not know SQ2 is Sonor's flagship custom top of the line series. Let's say with both 14x14 floor toms next to each other my ears struggled to hear any difference. My Sonor floor tom offered a little more sustain. I believe this is because of the floor tom legs and feet.

The fundamental tones, "feel" and tuning ranges are very similar. The shell makeup is somewhat similar; my SQ2 is vintage beech - that is to say a thin beech shell with re-rings.

The aluminum snare sounds great. It is tuned very high and has a perfect crack.

What I enjoy overall with this kit is the balance of warm 3 ply goodness with a nice amount of attack. The bass drum I had tuned high and low and it presents a nice round tone in either range.

Overall this is one amazing sounding kit. I would say with the great many kits I have had that should say a lot. It did take a little bit of time tuning to get it right sounding to my ears. To that end I will say that Sonor and Rogers are very much set it and forget it in terms of ease of tuning.

I am playing it with nearly all the factory heads and am pleased. I would imagine swapping out with the heads of your choice the sound would only improve.

From K.O.

What do you think of the original bass pedal and hi-hat stand? They look cool with that nifty footboard but in use they can be described with one word: atrocious (at least mine are). Cool to have them though. I hope they didn't discourage too many young drummers.I don't like my mounted tom that close to the center of the bass drum so for gigs I've rigged up a more modern setup that puts it further out. When I set it up with the original mount I use the "L" arm with the longer leg in the holder and the shorter one in the tom bracket to get it an extra inch or two out from the center.Man that sure is a pretty blue....

I have not played either the hi hat or bass pedals. To me they look like Speed Cobra pedals from Tama with a longer foot board. What I am trying to wrap my head around is that hi hat stand. To me it seems like it would be more costly to make vs. a spur lock.

If younger drummers of days past kept at it with those they must be much better players these days!

While I am not a huge fan of the tom mount location I kinda like to play everything close in. I also would flip the L arm (previous owner had it like that) if I was to play live likely.

Look I found the matching snare!

Fantastic! I assume it's in as excellent shape as the kit.

Also assume the Standard tom bracket is shallower than a Classic, to fully receive the short arm of the L-arm pictured on your set [1st pic]?

The older ones [2nd pic], with the longer short arm, you can do that trick with Classic brackets. Cuz I'm with you guys on getting the tom shifted out a bit.
