Ludwig Shell Set 1960-1980? Price? Last viewed: 26 minutes ago

Loading...

Hi everyone,

I bought a Ludwig shell-set (12 & 13TT, 16ST, 22BD).

It was coated with white foil.

I accidentally discovered that the foil was put on it afterwards so I peeled it off carefully and it turned out, that the finish was a different one.

Due to the fact, that the shells were protected by the foil the set is in pretty good condition. The badges are not that nice because they were ripped off by the guy who put the foil on, I guess.

The Serial Number is: 176 27 55 (BD)

So far I found out, that this finish is called Mahogany Cortex and was produced by Ludwig in 1979. I have no clue if this is true or not so I need the help of experts.

My questions now are:

How old is this shell set?

Which series is it?

And finally: how much is it worth?

Any questions? Just let me know.

Thanks a lot!

Hey, thanks for the information!

Entire kit sizes? Do you mean the depth?

The Toms are 12, 13 and 16 inches in diameter, the bass drum 22.

And it is just the shell set. No hardware, no snare. It consists of three toms and the bassdrum.

Cheers!

Yeah, maybe.

We will see. But thank you for the information you gave me.

It´s very helpful!

I have another kit with the exact sizes but made by Pearl in blue sparkling. It was purchased by my father when he was about 15. It was 1977-78 I guess. with a steel snare. I suppose it is from the Export product line. But I have no pictures yet and I don´t want to sell this one. ;)

Cheers
