Ludwig psychedelic red snare drum Rare! Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Hi,

I was wondering what a good price would be on a Ludwig psychedelic red snare drum Rare! item number 190075833338 would be? Here is the website address as follows:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Ludwig-psychedelic-red-snare-drum-Rare_W0QQitemZ190075833338QQihZ009QQcategoryZ64434QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If copy and paste or clicking on the website address does not work, I just went to ebay and searched for Ludwig psychedelic and that auction appears just click on the link. Its the first time I ever saw an original I always thought they were like unicorns whether or not they really existed back then. Yes, I know unicorns are fictitious.

On my psychedelic set, I have the blue-olive badges and the inside wood are not white paint but clear. I still can not figure out why my drums would have the mount rail on the bass. I have seen 1960s psychedelic drums with the 1960s style badge that have the two L for two toms. It just puzzles me maybe they used older 1960s parts on my 1970s drum set I just don?t know the reason. Thank you for the comments and a fair price on that snare drum listed on ebay.

Regards,

Rob

Yes, these are hard to find, but this is also a 6 lugger and not an 8 lug Jazz Fest, which is even harder to find.

I have seen them around and in private collections.

Price...

Most normal 6 lug drums fall in the $150 - $300 price range depending on the finish.

My guess with 8 bids and a lot of people looking for any psychedelic snare drum for their set. Between $400 and $???. Ebay is a tough place to gauge actual value when two people have to have it. It can go way over what most people would ever pay for a drum.

Here is the ebayers comments as follows:

Hi Robert:

Ludwig started offering the psych red finish in 1967, and discontinued it around 1975. They reintroduced it (and still offer it), in 2001.

Matching snare drums were an option, but most players opted for metal snares (ie: supraphonic).

The 60's finish varied from the 70's with the difference being a slight black background on the later 70's.

Thanks for the note, and the interest!

Hi,

Appreciate the price range on that ludwig psychedelic snare drum. It had 20 bids with a winning bid of $645.00.

actually, $645 was the high bid, but it did not make the reserve. I'm amazed.
