Ludwig 60's Black Oyster Sell/Buy/Trade BONANZA Last viewed: 15 minutes ago

Hey everybody!

So basically i just received a whole bunch of 60's Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl stuff. The wrap is still nice and deep with little fading - the only issue being that its a bit mismatched! Hence why i'm thinking about trading stuff/selling/buying to make a coherent kit. Does anyone have anything that they'd be willing to sell/trade? Here's what I have:

late 1963, 22" x 14" 'Super Classic' Bass Drum (Serial number: 7617):

- maple/poplar/mahogany shell construction

- wrap in the seam, no lifting

- rail consolette

- old school telescopic cymbal arm mount

- chrome hardware

- knurled spur mounts

- no extra holes

- no modifications

- missing one hoop inlay

late 1963/early 1964 12" x 8" Rack Tom

- mahogany/poplar/mahogany shell construction

- wrap in the seam, no lifting

- chrome hardware

- ?COB hoops

- baseball bat muffler

- knurled mount

- no extra holes

- no modifications

1964, 14" x 14" 'Club Date' Floor Tom

- mahogany/poplar/mahogany shell construction

- wrap in the seam, no lifting

- badge in centre of drum

- nickel hardware

- 'bowtie' lugs x 6

- baseball bat muffler

- 'club date' leg mounts missing

- extra hole (approx 1cm x 1cm) in backside of the drum (opposite badge)

1969 16" x 16" Floor Tom

- maple/poplar/maple shell construction

- no lifting of wrap

- chrome hardware

- 'dial tone' muffler

- Blue/Olive badge

- no extra holes

- no modifications

They're all in very good - excellent condition with the exception of the clubdate floor tom probably - only because of the extra hole (aside from that its very good). I'll take some photos tomorrow and load them up to give you an idea of the vibrancy of the wrap and general condition. Please chime in! hopefully some long lost completed Black Oyster Pearl sets will finally be reunited here!!!

thanks

Hey, nice find!

I guess I'm a little confused here -- I realize the 14x14 is club date style and can see why you might want to trade it for a classic one, but is the 16x16's wrap the "bowling ball" stuff? (I can't remember when Ludwig switched.)

I can't help you out at this time, but wish you luck in getting your set together.

Hey bill,

I forgot to mention the 70's floor tom is the 60's style black oyster pearl - NOT the bowling ball style. And i think you might be right - ill post it in the for sale section
