Leedy snare and a Ludwig Snare - Interesting Last viewed: 48 minutes ago

Loading...

I recently came into two interesting snares. I'd like to get some opinions on what I have and what the possible value might be. I dont plan on selling either... just curious what you guys think.

First is a 10x14 Ludwig pre serial field snare. Whoever owned this spent some money. It has been cut down to a 5.5x14, the snare side re-ring was removed and reinstalled (extremely well). the edges are fantastic ( I assume they are not original). COB hoops with NOB vintage tube lugs. This snare sounds better than my '64 champagne jazzfest. I'm in it at $100.

Next is a 1920's Leedy 6x14 brass shell made in Indianapolis I bought directly from Harry Cangany. Someone painted this thing black and added Slingerland hardware. I'm in this at $150.

I covet that old mahogany Ludwig. Set up nicely as a player.
