Leedy Bass Drum Last viewed: 13 hours ago

Hello All,

First timer here, I have an old Leedy bass drum that is in good shape. It was given to me by my aunt who used to do estate sales in the 1990's near the St. Louis area. It measures 18x30 and 1/2 inches and is animal skin covered,on one side it has written in faint lettering BEN WILLIAMS STOCK CO. around it and on the center it has in larger letters TONIGHT . I remember seeing a few dates written in it from 1927, and 1956. As I said it is in good shape .I was wondereing how I can find out how much it might be worth ,it is taking up some floor space and I would like to get rid of it. I play the Upright Bass not the Bass drum. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bobby Z

If its marked 1927 on the shell's interior, this could make it worth quite a bit (condition depending of course) as it would be from the Indianapolis era, a much sought after era of Leedy amongst collectors. Pics would be very helpful.

The drum as far as I can see has the brass badge that says Leedy Mfg Co. Indianapolis, which is also burned inside of the drum shell. I have a few pics ,sorry for the quality.

Bob's LEEDY bass drum is a 1920's model, the REAl DEAL Not a conn era leedy, by LEEDY MANFACTURING CO. it is single tension, with mahogany finish, natural stained maple hoops, and is a 30" bass drum, it has 4 holes on the top of the shell where the lights would have been to keep the heads tensioned, these are factory not extra holes, she's a beauty!!!Bowing
