I picked this kit (22/12/13/16) up a few weeks ago from the original owner. It came with an acrolite snare that was purchased new with the kit, a couple of MIJ cymbal stands, a hi-hat stand, snare stand, and some cheap cymbals. The wrap and all hardware were extremely neglected, dull and filthy but, structurally speaking, the drums were in very sound condition. The cymbal stands seen in the pic were a couple I already had that are "era-correct". The hi-hat stand in the pic is an old Rogers "swan leg" that I had sitting around and the snare drum is a 6 1/2 x 14 Supra that I had purchased some time ago. I stripped all the hardware from each drum, gave it all a good "bath", then re-installed it. I cleaned up the wrap with some Armor-All Ultra-Shine, thanks to the recommendations of some fellow forum-members. For some strange reason I can picture myself playing this one on New Year's Eve in my black tux (lol)!

Those came out fantastic! Nice as I've ever seen. And you're right about the tux...those are black tie formal all the way.

Those look really cool, making me rethink my view of that finish!!
It's like, that kit would even make "The Bat Cave" look THAT much cooler! Da, na, na, na! BIFF!! BAM!!! OOF!! Awesome!! Can't believe that wrap shared the roofs of so many late 60's and early/mid 70's cars. Talk about a green product!!
Super-cool!!!

Old School, you never cease to amaze. I wasn't a big fan of that finish, until now.
My first kit, 1983 Ludwig Rocker? (it has the classic lugs and 4ply maple shell) 22,12,13,16 ..now in black oyster pearl. I still have it
Stop Sign USA Gretsch (80's), black nitron jasper shell 22,12,13,16
1995 Fibes Austin,Texas Badge (original owner) 22,10,12,16,18 in natural wood
USA 2007 Rosewood Gretsch 22,13,16 w/12inch 70's Rosewood Gretsch tom
THANKS for all the positive feedback. I wasn't too sure if I liked the finish either at the time I purchased the kit. However, the price was definitely right and after the clean-up I'm a "believer".
Dang! That is sweet. I love that blackout bass reso. It makes such a statement. LuddyDude, you were so right. That is an extraordinary finish.

When they are all shined up, Black Panther looks amazing. Stage lighting doesn't always do them justice. I always thought that Black Panther was just as classy looking as champagne sparkle, silver sparkle or white marine pearl. Now I'm glad that some of you are seeing the light as well. :D Jump For Joy
