Late 70's early 80's Rogers Drumset Last viewed: 12 hours ago

Hello All, This is my first post! I came across the site looking for info on these:

"Rogers drum set (late 70's Early 80's)four piece,Zildjian cymbols,(high-hats,ride,china pang)throne.(also have extra bass drum (24"),extra concert toms.$475."

That's all there is in the ad. I called him, he said that the zildjians are the same era, and didn't really know much else about them. He said most of the hardware is pearl, and only one cymbal stand is rogers.

Not far, about 1 hr drive so I'm gonna go look at em. My research tells me that they are Big R's and if they don't say made in USA on the badges then they are island music. Anything else I should know? How can I ID hardware, and type of set?

Thanks!

[COLOR="DarkRed"]Hi....well, OK. You know what the Big R badge looks like. So start there.

Then figure out if the shells are grey speckled or natural wood. That also narrows things a bit.

If the grey shells, those would be the last of the thin-ply re-ringed shells.

If the natural shells, they could be the XP8 shells....or they could be the Island Music shells.

Next look at the hardware. It's probably gonna be the Big R memriloc hardware. If it's not...walk away (I think). Do a web image search for that hardware so you can familiarize yourself with what it looks like.

If it's the XP8 shells or the grey shells, it's a hecka good deal. If it's not, it's still not a horrible deal...I mean, the cymbals alone are worth about $300 if they are undamaged.

Ok so they were concert toms orange gloss wrapped. The wrap was coming off and the drums were in bad shape, needed new heads and some new rims. USA Rogers, and had rerings but wood interiors, no gray paint? cymbals were nice, but the crash had bad cracks in it. I ended up passing on it. if anyone wants it in the NY LI area, lemme know i'll pass on his phone number.
