I bought this WFL kit for $300 a few days ago. It's late 50's, 22/13/16. The floor tom does not match, its a 70's/80's MIJ no name. Sometime I'll find a matching one. For now I'll be restoring what's here. Here are some "before" pictures, I'll continue posting as I make progress.
Late 50's WFL restoration Last viewed: 1 hour ago
Some details: a previous owner either added or replaced the bass drum spurs with 70's spurs. Not a huge deal, but they did a pretty bad job drilling the holes. Also, it looks like they moved the tom mount more towards the middle of the bass drum. There are some other random holes in the bass drum too. I can't find date stamps on these either. Is that normal for late 50's? The rack tom has something that might have been a date stamp, but its in black ink and no longer legible.
That's all pretty minor to me, I'm just super happy to have this kit and to be doing my first restoration.
I started cleaning and polishing today. I went straight to the buffing wheel on my bench grinder. This worked great, took all the gunk off and shined it up in one step (then just a quick wash off in dish soap/water). You just have to be careful that you don't take too much of the plating off. Here's a before and after photo. I might still try a cloth and some metal polish to see if they get any shinier.
Looks great...in any case you need to put on a coat of chrome polish (or car wax) to protect the finish and preserve the shine.

Wow......nice job.......it looks great
I'm still working on polishing the lugs. Here's a 70's Acrolite I got on ebay to go with the kit.
Looking better every day, man !!
the acro will fit in perfectly with the rest of your kit.
Thanks guys, I can't wait to put it all back together.
